Short Film shot at night

This film was shot with the DVX100a mostly within a car at night time. It was shot in 24P mode which presented some problems in the amount of light that we needed. In retrospect I feel that we probably should not have used 24p because of the lack of light.

This was written, shot and edited by students who had just taken a 14 session part time course in filmmaking.

The only witness to his crime is his friend Gordy, whom he must now convince the decision he is about to make, is the right one.

Congratulations to all those involved in making this movie. The shots in the car are excellent as are the shots outside the car looking into the windshield.....very,very well done. Interesting story also. My only complaint would be the audio as there were times I had a hard time hearing some of the conversation....but that could just be the compression for the web. Nice work!

Too bad about the compression , it was a little jerky and the audio was hard to hear in spots . Did enjoy it though .
Well done

how not to shoot a car

how not to shoot a car

We learned a big lesson in how not to shoot a moving car. For some of the scenes we had the car on a trailer which was being towed by a van with the back doors open with no type of steadycam. What we ended up with was extremely shakey footage... we did correct it somewhat by going through that scene frame by frame and making manual corrections to keep the windshield in the center of the screen. I think there is some software out there that can do that stuff automatically but i dont know what it is. I think in the end some of the shake added a bit of tension and confusion to the scene which is probably how aden was feeling.

I'd be interested in how others would get this angle of shot from a moving car...
