In the future, there is a select sequence of event s that transpire, this occurrence is favourable to an elite group of people. This esoteric group wants to make sure that this event cannot be altered in any way, so begins a test: Project Tempus.

Shot this as a TEST film on the new Canon 7D. I thought up this idea the night before, we managed to sneak into the abandoned Kodak building in the west end and found an amazing location. The entire thing was shot in less than 3 hours due to the fact that it was -10 outside. All music, post effects (including blood, gun shots, glass breaking) was done by me as another test.
Hope you guys like this, if I get a good response, might write an actual script and turn it into something even cooler.

Tech Specs:
All shot at 1080p24
used the Marvels Cine colour profile
shot on 20mm f2.8 and 50mm f1.4
Post work done in Final Cut Pro and After Effects CS4
Music done in Soundtrack Pro

Interesting concept, and some cool shots, especially the intro.

The problem I have with it is the repetitiveness.

It starts great, a guy wakes up in some abandoned warehouse and we don't know why he's there. At first the gun shot was cool and unexpected, and the fact that he woke up was a great moment. Same for the note. But afterwards it just started going downhill for me. It didn't feel like it developed into anything. We weren't revealed to anything more than him getting shot again and again, some guy shows up and says basically what the sheet said, and he gets shot, then the main dude gets out but sees himself get shot over and over...

I dunno, felt like a merry go round. It didn't really go anywhere. Interesting concept though. Curious to see how you would develop it into a script.

i liked this for what it was. A short test of your equipment and effects. I was impressed that you managed to create an eerie feel and you actually managed to make me jump at that first shot. The footage looked really nice, and im really astounded at the effects.

Can you elaborate at how difficult it was to do the aftereffects and how you did it? This is something i want to learn next. Im IT by profession so learning new softwares is not really that difficult for me and this seems like the next logical step.

I do agree that after a while it got a bit repetitive, and it seemed like you werent sure where you wanted to take the story and i found myself geting a little bored at the end.

But for just an all around test with only a few hours shooting time it was excellent.

Id love to see you write a more narrative script, storyboard and plan it out and see what you can do with a more developed story.

Cool Jon, I thought that looked great. I'm in Toronto as well, do you know of any other cool abandon locations like this? I know of one in the East end called Brickworks but it's getting harder and harder to get in there.
