Hi,
I follow this forum for years. I would like to present my latest short film shot with the Sony F3 + Ki pro mini + Slog. Lenses: sony PL kit + nikon primes (with adapter).
Thanks for watching.
I'm pondering buying the new F5 but I can't spend more money and here in Spain we are having a crisis quite deep, so I will continue making war on the F3 (very proud of this little baby)

Great film, really enjoyed it, well graded, I've noticed, in making videos, too much blown out highlights.
Would you share, some info, lenses, workflow, etc. !

Well done "brigadoon", why think about the F5?
You seemed to have done a great job with the F3 here, I don't know how much of an improvement the result would have been if the F5 was used on your film.

I don't know it would be some substancial difference if we had shooted with the new F5 (maybe yes with the F55 and global shutter). I think the F3 + external recorder it's a very professional portable and cheap combination totally pro, with a good pack of lenses.
I shooted in AppleProress HQ + Slog curve with KiPro mini
Lenses: Sony Primes 35 F2, 50F2, 85F2 + nikon lenses (with optitek adapter): 24 F1.4, 100 macro F2.8, Tokina 11-16 F2.8.
Field monitors: Small DP4 adn DP6.
We want to shoot my first film in 2014. I was thinking investing in the new F5. Many times we get the excuse we can't film without having the best or the last machine, and at the end what matters are the stories and your characters. Anyone who has invested in an F3, like me, have an amazing equipment to embark on the road and start shooting.
Yesterday I watched "Security not guaranteed", filmed with F3 + old Panavison lenses and I really like it.

Absolutely right!.....You can have the best equipment money can buy but with a terrible script, acting that is not believable, sound that is painful to listen to, a director that would be bad even at parking the crew's cars and an editor who is out to lunch and you would still end up with a really bad film no matter that it was shot on the newest top-of-the-line gear.
You seem to be able to get really great results out of your F3, in my opinion it's better to take the time to hone your storytelling and directorial crafts before you go trading your existing camera equipment for the shiny new stuff. The F3 is a great camera that's still got a lot of extremely useful life left in it.

Unless you want 4K I honestly can't see much reason to dump a F3 to go for a F5. F3 shot to 444 S-log is very good and can look every bit as nice as anything I have seen from the new F's so far. Your movie looks great by the way. It would be nice to look at a full HD version of it though.
