Hey there,

This is a short I did for school recently. Minor sound things to fix, and maybe an edit or two, but this is basically the final film. If this doesn't qualify for this forum let me know and I can move it to the DVX forum. Thanks for watching!

Camera - DVX100b with RedRock M2

Budget - Basically non-existent. $300 maybe.

Produced, directed and edited - Brad Hodgson

Production Assistants - John Ingle, Tony Irons

Brad,

overall you have created a good solid film. I liked it. Your storyline evolved in a circle, it tied back together at the end, the viewer puts the pieces together, all this is great. Exactly what you would want to achieve.

Camera work was good, lighting was fine. Acting worked for me very well for a project this scale.

A couple things I have to say: even though I enjoy slow-pieces generally, I feel like you should have picked up the pace overall. A lot of shots are pretty long, once the viewer like myself got the idea, move on to the next shot. Sometimes I was a bit bored still looking at the same shot. I think if you would pick up the pace a tiny bit, it becomes even more effective.

Also, the first music track I felt was overpowering the picture. maybe try to find something more subtle. Just an idea....

oh and another thing. I prefer it and festivals do too, have your credits only at the end. Just show the title of the short, as you go immediately into the story. I know festivals do like that if a film immediately starts without any credits in the beginning. And I do too.... throw me right into the story! I dont know your name, so I cant associate it with anything.... it works for the big shots like Spielberg and co...

again, great little short film that has been effectively executed with minimal resources.... just make it a bit more shorter :)

Best

David

Hi David,

Awesome! Thank you so much for the kind words and the good advice. I'll remember that and take it to heart with the next project I'm working on this fall...

Thanks again!
Brad

Looks really good. I would put the credits at the end too.

Can you explain a little about your reasons behind making the film? If not that's okay. I'm just currious as to what's going on with the characters.

I wasn't bored watching it.
