Short Film "Paris"

hi guys
in all my movies i only play with Levels and that'S it. if not the colors are flat and not vivid. i used 24pa , letus35fe for the intro and that's it.

I liked the overall feel of the film although I haven't a clue how the opening scene relates to the rest of the story.

The music set a really cool mood but I felt like your edits were way long. The first shot could have been 10 seconds and much more effective, in my mind.

I think with a tighter edit and some kind of clarity as to how the beginning relates (unless you want to keep it ambiguous), you have yourself a nice short there.

I really enjoyed your film. What did you use to shoot the audio? Was there any ADR?

Also, I really enjoyed the music. Was this a school project? or did you contact the artist and just ask if you could use their music? I am trying hard to get some good music in my pictures, but haven't really gotten any solid responses.

Keep up the good work!

it was not a school project. i did this to build my demo. i had a sony hdr-fx1 but i sold it to get this baby . best trade ever. i contacted the band that i love and ask them very nicely, explained the movie to them. send them DVDs and put them on the credit. they can do what they want with the movie . show them to anybody i don'T care. as long i get their permission. i have like 40 bands from all over the world who gave me their permission. just be polite and very honest. i have my microphone but almost all the song are redone. except inside the car. the rest it's all from scratch

Yeah I was thinking about your audio capture and light scheme while watching the short. I think you mentioned you only used the 35mm on the opening scene? Were you using an XLR boom or shotgun mount? These run and gun shoots are tough because there's a lot of story to convey and factoring in different lighting positions and sound mixing makes a 2 day shoot a 5 day shoot. Also, why 24pa as opposed to 24p?

i didn't use the boom mic . it was just the mic in my hand because we were so close. i've done some isolation because of the car all around, the engine etc... i didn't had the time to redone all the voice over. after all the mixed up it sound great. i think so. 24pa because you can put it on film later
