Short film shot in 2008 in L.A .
i was hired by the actress Piya Pinvatana to direct her short film.
it's a preview for her feature film that she's producing.

It's based on the featured film called Red Bird.

she wrote it and i supervised and changed some things in it.

She flew me from Montreal to L.A and shot this without any preparation.

The actor Lewis Smith ( heavenly kid, wyatt hearp) was very generous of his time to be in this movie. he was my idol when i was young.

no budget at all. we shot this in 2 days. i did everything. except casting. Shot with Letus35fe and DVX100b

Everything is there for a reason. the look, the sounds etc..
Everything is ADR because of locations difficulty. that's the sad part about the film.

Actress: Piya Pinvatana , Ryan Neal , Eddie Jarvis, Malaipet ,Brian Watson and Lewis Smith

Music: apalusa , John Roger Olsson, Golden Apes, Rennick and the workhouse.

Sound Design Paul Williams

First off, great job. For something that was produced in 2 days it looks fantastic.

A couple of constructive criticism points: The subtitles were a little hard to read, not much contrast from the background. Also in the beginning desert scene, be careful with the vingetting from the DOF adapter.

Positively though, I loved the colors. Great use of light and I personally love manipulation with depth of field so kudos on that as well.

What did you use for your rig? Which DOF adapter did you use?

:cheesy:

it was with the letus35fe. yeah i always have a hard time to create subtile. i had no light at all. everything was guerrilla. i've worked around everything that i had on the location. the movie was WAY better with the original sound of the actors. that's the bad part about it. yeah i think overall it's great. thanks

yeah, the audio is off...
but hey great job!
I love all the work you do and I've been a fan of yours :)
