SHORT: Short film about a eulogy.

My friend Johnny Clark is an actor I've admired for many years. He finally brought a piece to me for us to work on together.
It was challenging to keep this visual as it's a eulogy. The only dialogue in the scene is the main character addressing a small group of people. I added bookends to the scene to give it some context, I hope it helped.

Nice job. You filmed with two cameras at different positions at the same time? What type of camera? How did you capture the sound?

Thanks svem.

Yes, two camera shoot. We shot about 6 takes for angles and performance.
Masters and wide shots on a Canon 5D, inserts on 7D.
Audio was a Sony shotgun mic and a Tram TR50 through a Zoom H4N.

Nicely shot and put together. Here'd be my constructive critiques:

-The right to left pan of the camera when he's giving the eulogy is a little repetitive, I like it better when you found more unique angles from behind heads/shoulders of the attendees.
-The rain sounds a bit like it's in the room, would be better if you could improve that a bit.
-Nitpicking but the guy in the hat annoys me, I just can't imagine someone wearing a baseball cap to a funeral but to be fair I've been to very few funerals.

Hope that helps.

Great observations and critique rahulvictor.

Re: the guy in the ball cap. I felt like we were giving the extras a life of their own, instead of populating the gallery with stock characters.

As far as camera moves, etc, I concur. This was shot in a few hours with a friend on B-camera and myself doing everything else.
In a perfect world...
