Shooting with two different formats for a horror short? SD and HD?

This is my first short film. I decided to make a short on a mysterious underground house. The main character faces challenges of disappearing light, asthma (difficulty breathing underground), and horrid creatures lurking the halls.
This was primarily shot on a Canon 7D in Black and white.
So, I was wondering how can I improve this 8 minute short? Is it right to use two different formats in one short? Some scenes were shot in SD (Canon mini dv) and the rest with a Canon 7D.

Thank you

As long as the aspect ratios are the same (16:9 or 4:3), then I see no problem. If the difference in resolution between the HD and SD clips is distracting, then you could render the HD clips as SD, and make the whole thing SD.

The other thing that can cause complications would be the frame rates. If the 7D footage was shot at 24p and the Canon at 60i, you'll need to do some deinterlacing and frame rate conversion on the miniDV footage to make sure everything is at 24p. Likewise, if you shot the 7D footage at 30p and the miniDV at 60i, you'll need to deinterlace the miniDV and conform it to 30p.
