Shooting with a HVX today - scene file advice.

Hi All,

I'm shooting an indoor skate pool today. My first time with an HVX.
I won't have time to get lights so the lighting will not be the best.

How can I tweak the Scene File to get the most out of my HVX?

I want the most information / least noise without using gain as I'm going to do all color correction in Apple Color.

This is the pool to give you an idea of location/lighting - not my camera so don't know the details:

Shall I bump up the Detail Level, V Detail, and Detail coring?

Was thinking:

SCENE NAME :POOL SHOOT
DETAIL LEVEL: +4
V DETAIL LEVEL: +3
DETAIL CORING : +4
CHROMA LEVEL: 0
CHROMA PHASE: 0
COLOR TEMP: 0
MASTER PED: 0
A.IRIS LEVEL: 0
NEWS GAMMA: OFF
GAMMA : HD NORMAL
KNEE: AUTO
MATRIX: NORM1
SKIN TONE DTL : OFF
V DETAIL FREQ : THIN
OPERATION TYPE: FILM CAM
FRAME RATE: 25 FRAME
SYNCRO SCAN : 180.0d

Any help appreciated.

Hi,

Are you shooting people as well? Do you have a monitor to set this up against. How does that Detail Coring and Detail work together? Remember the camera really doesn't look too bad right out of the box. What sort of feel do you want to the footage. Pesonally if I didn't have enough experience to have an opinion, I would use the out of the box Scene file #6. I like the look of that one for just the ordinary shooting.

Best,

Jan

Thanks Jan,

Yes I'm shooting people skating in the pool. And I won't have a monitor with me, unfortunately.

I don't want any 'feel' from the camera I will do that in 'post', I just want the most detail and least noise out of the camera, considering it will be fairly dark in there and I don't want to use digital gain.

Shoot at higher shutter angles or shutter speeds and better at 720/60p or 1080/60i. I've made the mistake of trying to shoot skating at 24p/180 degree shutter, and kinda messed up the footage.
