shooting wildlife

Hi everyone, just bought the HVX after a few years with a GL2. What a camera! I am going to be shooting a lot of wildlife (snake strikes, crocs, etc.) what mode should I be shooting in... 1080/60i ? I don't know if I can shoot in 1080/60fps (or if I would want to) should I shoot in 720p/60fps so I can have everything native slow-mo and just speed it to normal in final cut (but I would then need seperate audio)? with all the HVX can do, it's very confusing... shoot wildlife in 1080/60i??? please help. Thanks

Why would you want to shoot at 60i if you have progressive available to you?

Variable frame rates are only available in 720p

I pretty much shoot all my wildlife at 720p/60fps. When you slow things down you really get to see wildlife in a new way.

but isn't 1080 "true" HD while 720 is a notch below the true high def of 1080? sorry I'm verry new to HD.

No, 720 is HD.

I've sold 720p/60 footage to both Disney and National Geographic. Do you think they would settle for anything that didn't look top notch?

The best thing is to shoot what's right for you.

I'd suggest just going out and shooting and see what works for you.

Barry Green's book is an excellent place to start to learn different looks etc with your camera.

Thanks Kevin, from what you say and the fact that 1080p is not even broadcast as I understand, the 720p/60fps would really give the greatest HD footage. and correct me if i'm wrong, but you could spped it up to "real time" and have flawless HD slow-mo... correct?? but sound would have to be done seperate, right? thanks for the advice!
