Shooting TV Show on GH2 Hacks

Recently, I've signed up to shoot a TV show for the Cartoon Network titled Team Toons. It's live action mixed with animation. Think Power Rangers mixed with the Goonies. The entire series (26 episodes) are and will be shot on hacked GH2's. After conducting numerous tests, we concluded that the little digital wonder was perfectly suited for the specs of the job. Working with children we had to get through 30 -50 setups under 9 hours per day. We needed a camera systems that was light and ultra portable. Above all it had to be easy to rig.

Our show requires all sorts of rigs from suction mounts to the ceiling to arming over sets on menace arms to car and bike rigs, etc. But i had to be broadcast quality. The Vitaly hacks fit he bill. Check out some of the test results and observations at: https://timnaylor.jux.com/59067.

Overall, as much as I love the raw image from the GH2, it must be completely "pimped" to be a functional camera system for prime time.

How did the commissioning editor feel about GH2 as an acquisition medium? Or was it the animation/live-action mix that helped it through? I presume you've had to go through some type of broadcast testing?

Anyway, very interesting - looking forward to seeing more. Keep regular updates & good luck!
