Shooting the sun

I'm thinking about shooting a few moments of sunset with the stock dvx100b lens. I'm wondering if this is ok for the camera or if I should get extra lenses or filters (for both protection and image qulaity). I am only planning to stay on the sun for a few seconds before panning off. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Definitely protect the camera sensor with ND filters / polarizer. When you pan off, everything will be dark. You may want to set up a silhouette shot instead of panning over from the sun. Then cut to another shot with proper exposure on the subject. My 2 cents.

It's fine, especially during sunset when the light is the least intense. Your main concern should be as with the above post, how the shot will work.
