SHOOTING THE SNOW

I have the kata rain cover and i was wondering if that would be enough protection against old man winter when shooting in the snow.

Re: SHOOTING THE SNOW

That should be fine unless you are planning on dropping the camera in the snow, and even then it should probably keep out the water pretty well. Just make sure that you take the rain cover off before you go indoors as you will accquire a lot of condensation. Also, I wouldn't run the camera for at least an hour once indoors, as you will also have condensation inside the camera. But really, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Re: SHOOTING THE SNOW

Bilgami, yeah, you should worry too much about the cold weather except for making sure it doesn't get moisture build up.

What the heck is your avatar? It looks like a creepy troll.

Re: SHOOTING THE SNOW

As for condensation...if you are out for any length of time in temps well below 32, ie freezing, then you should be concerned with condensation. Get an extra large zip lock bag, one that is big enough for the camera and zip it into the bag before going into a heated environment. let the camera warm up inside the bag before pulling it out. Small amounts of condensation inside the camera on electronics will play hell with you later on.

Re: SHOOTING THE SNOW

I love shooting the snow and rain, try putting yor shutter in various positions and find what stroby effect you like most.

I have gotten some killer shots in the snow.

Thanx guys thats why i love dvx user my avatar is a selfportrait but i like your avatar spider where did you get it.

Re: SHOOTING THE SNOW

I have the Kata cover. It seals up the camera pretty good except for the front. If your shooting with the stock DVX lens hood water can still get in through the open spaces in the rear of the lens hood. Now what I do is slap my Matte Box if I am shooting in the rain and that eliminates water from getting in from the front of the camera. You may get some on the lens or in my case the UV filter but none will reach the camera.

I love the baggie idea!! :D
It'll keep the condensation from forming in the first place - beautiful!
