Shooting Technique

a lot of cardboard and tape. all the effects are hand made to emulate the crap video effects that he keeps using ( or retro cool if you were born after the 80's). oh and ditto to Arson , a hell of a lot of planning

I know a dude named Lloyd who works at Amoeba records. Ask for him at the front desk. Tell him you want the Purple Toad and slip him $50 dollars.

That should get you on a good start for the creative aspect of it.

Many different layered techniques. You have to have a perfect understanding in your mind, lay it out on paper, figure out the major techniques, and then the transitional techniques.

For example, the clock at 0:20 is shot normally then edited to add the prism effect. A still of the result it sent out to a fab shop and the multi camera prop is built for the next scene. Loading the edited prism clip into the camera or video village would aid in positioning the prop.

Lots of prep time and lots of shoot time. Feature films should do this type of stuff when mixing live action, special effects, miniatures, and CGI/VFX work.
