Shooting Settings

Im shooting a short horror movie based in a bar at night, I have searched online to find the best settings for the DVX 100 but find a lot of contradictions, can any1 give me anymore information to help me weigh each option up
will be using 24fps
thanks

Experiment !

Thats really your only option. Only you really know what look your after.

Exactly... Its all up to you. Thats why cinematography is an art, not a science.

If you really feel afraid to mess with settings in camera and be stuck with that look (for the most part), just set all you settings to 0 and gamma to "Cinegamma". Then you could do all your experimenting in post using settings you may already be used to.

That's exactly what I did. Set all my settings to "0" and use 24p and set the white balance. That way I have more options in post. I'm not committed to one look that I setup on location.

I'd suggest something plain jane as well....and I'd pay much more attention to lighting/shadow, either gelling or duvetyning the windows, blocking for dramatic effect, coaching your actors.....camera setting don't mean anything next to the stuff actually happening in front of the camera....I wouldn't suggest just turning it on and setting everything to automatic, but hopefully you get my point.

I agree with what others have stated regarding shooting flat. Not only will it give you the opportunity to try different looks in post, it will also preserve the highest amount of color information, which will further provide you with choices.

Shooting plain is what i have done previously but thought this time around i would try and use the camera to its full advantage, but majority vote shoot plain n fuk round with it later.

cheeers dudes
