Shooting Rock Concert footage

I'm going to be shooting footage at a small indoor venue for a rock band this week; the footage will be used to make a music video.

Don't know how the lighting or anything is in the venue, I'm assuming it will be low-light footage. I'll have a tripod and the camera is all.

Has anyone done a project like this before who can give me some pointers?

Seconded; I'm interested in this subject as well. It really depends on the venue, but I think the main challenge would be the stage lighting, which can be really dynamic, and I'm afraid of spotlights and constant brightness changes creating instant "hotspots" that can blow out your footage. Think I'm going to have to be playing with the iris alot.

Well I've shot a variety of stage performances with my 150 since January. You can take a few looks. Perhaps the Wintergrass band sampler will give you a good idea of what the 150 can do (and can't, it blows out a bit with some whites you'll notice, but I try to slightly underexpose).

Wintergrass Band Sampler - Sound off an AT897 shotgun on the camera picking up room sound, which was excellent.

Second band in the series, Crooked Still, had a bit of blowout with the guys' white shirt. Might have also tried rolling off the bass with the mic switch.

This band had the most dynamic lighting, which was typical disco lighting nonsense. But the camera held up well.

I'll be shooting live at a film festival this weekend, so unlikely to help much more than tonight.

Good luck.
