Shooting our first feature in U.K.

Director Mod
Guys just to let you all know I’m about to embark on my first pro feature. I’m going to need as much support advice/ help as poss, here’s my plan.

Shooting on HVX (getting it hopefully 3 weeks) I’m opting for century optics 2x tele and basic wide instead of M2 set-up, mainly for time plus I prefer the harder image. I’ve watched tons of m2 footage and although I’m blown away, I’m thinking of the overall practicalities. I’m sure if I add enough depth/ interesting lighting backed by solid script/ innovative set-ups, I will get a decent overall looking project.

My Art Director is co-producing. He’s handling locations, props; set builds, Art dept crew including finding a great PM.

I’m covering, directing, budgets, rest of crew, Actors, script and gear. This is going to be ultra low budget so I’ve been thinking/ working hard on script ideas for the last couple of years. I’ve finally come up with something that I'm sure is viable. I have written another two screenplays with budget in-mind but I’ve always known they weren’t ‘The One’

I’ve been Directing for the past 6 years, making music videos and shorts. I’ve also worked on a ton of other projects. This is the next step for me. I’m ready. I have built up a reliable talented crew over this time and they are all on board ready to get their teeth into something more substantial.

We will be shooting the main body of the feature on sets. Looks like we’ve found a suitable location for a two-month period that we can have complete control over. Giving us enough time for build/ set-ups/ tests. Leaving 4weeks for shooting. The rest of the script will be on location.

I trained and worked as an Actor for 15years. I have also built a credible cache of strong performers. We had a meet with someone who’s interested in playing the lead. I also have plenty of other performers to help out and fall back on.

I’m incredibly excited about making my first feature but also extremely scared:shocked: . I plan on doing lots of prep and hope to share the whole process with you guys.

If anyone in the U.K. would like to offer on-set support please PM me. Cheers.

Wish me luck.
Jean-Paul Bankes-Mercer.
