Shooting on HDX900: Storage/Editing options?

I'll be editing on Final Cut Pro.

What kind of deck to I need to get the footage into FCP? Is there any other way?

Is there anything I should be wary of?

Sorry about the vagueness of the questions. I've not used this camera before...

Cherrs, Rick.

You can use the camera for ingest, a studio deck like the 1200A or 1400 or you can use a FireStore FS-100 on-board hard drive for recording and ingest or transfer to hard drive/s on location.

The FireStore solution costs a lot less than renting or buying a studio deck, better than using the camera for ingest, but you should still roll tape as a backup. FireStore will offer a lot of recording time, but you do have to be careful about vibration/shock, loose Firewire cable, fan noise.

FireStore FS-100 is available in 100, 160 and 250Gb HDD sizes. It can record all formats that an HDX900 will output, plus 720 24 and 30P Native formats in Quicktime .mov or P2 .mxf files.

File based recording is more convenient and faster, but many are afraid of it vs. tape.

Cheers for the reply Dino.

I'll be shooting tape, so it's really just a standard transfer to FCP?

A firewire from the camera into the mac and then log and capture?

Is this right? Do I need to download any drivers for the camera or install any other codecs?
