Hello there, I'm getting ready to shoot my first music video in the next month and I'm looking to soak up as many tips/tricks and suggestions as possible!
I've got a Panasonic PV-GS250 camera which has served me well for most things I've shot before(mainly live concerts etc...). The song is about 3 and a half minutes, up-beat pop/indie/rock, we've got a simple concept/story to work with. It will involve performance shots in a photo studio with a white backdrop, and the story will be taking place in a hallway and several bedrooms(think dorm rooms). I'm really looking for any tips on lighting(we're looking for something very colorful and clear, no grungy type lighting etc..) and any other equipment tips. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I've got a basic knowledge of framing shots, and we're working on a very small budget(200-300 available for any extra equipment)

Keep the camera moving and have a lot of angles. Make the artist look pretty, don't worry about lighting continuity, change it to best suit each shot

how do we make the artist look pretty? Lots of soft light? A little post work in AE? Good make up?

show the drummer. a lot. damn, i'm bitter.

...male or female vocalist? wardrobe will play heavily if you plan on including performance footage....i.e. they should be dressing different if they're performing in the rooms/hallways, as opposed to a gymnasium, or concert hall, and if both locations are used, they shouldn't be wearing the same thing anyway...just a thought
