Shooting in the snow this Sunday. Advice please.

I've done some research but thought there might be some specific advice for the D800. It will be my first time ever shooting in the snow.

I've got the Heliopan Vari-ND filter. Hopefully it will work okay with the Hoya HD Polarizer Filter I pick up tomorrow. I know to not change the temperature of the camera too quickly and to load up my case with dessicants/moisture control. Monitoring is going to be difficult because I don't have an external monitor yet...

I assume the Nikon is tough enough to go down to 20 degrees farenheit?

Any safety tips? I don't want to damage the camera or my spanking brand new zeiss zf lenses or two day old Miller tripod.

Thanks for any advice.

Try and test the Vari ND with the Polarizer before you go out. Seeing as the Vari ND is essentially two polarisers you might want to see what happens. Also the fact that you'll probably need strong ND filtration you might want to think about IR contamination. It's probably too late for this shoot but I recommend the Tiffin IR/ND filters for anything above three stops.

Oh and don't forget your thermal underwear!
