GH2 Shooting in bright sunlight with GH2

Rather than "reinvent the wheel", I'd like to ask for solutions as to how folks have addressed the issue of using the GH2 in bright sunlight. I've just finished a shoot, part of which was in a barnyard under bright mid-day sunlight and, needless to say, using the LCD screen was challenging, even with a Hoodman hood. My rig makes it cumbersome to shoulder mount the camera and use the eye finder.

So, with many thanks, what solutions are people using to using the GH2, in particular the LCD screen or an alternative, in bright sunlight?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm having the same problem. I mostly shoot paintball videos. So, I am always in the bright sun and i wear a mask so i don't get shot in the face. I try to shoot with manual focus, but it is super hard to see clearly.

The Hoodman eyecup hack is effective but not the most elegant....or good for the warantee! Someone needs to come up with an eyecup for these cameras.

I adapted my Z-Finder to fit the LCD screen. I know the majority of people want to use the EVF, but I am happy. :)

I used the GH2 EVF last weekend for an all day fitness competition. It worked, but was pretty uncomfortable. I'm looking at the Zacuto EVF, but would really prefer the Red Rock Micro EVF if it ever actually comes out. I don't have any desire for an LCD screen, just want the EVF.

i say:
1. get an external monitor. smallHD dp4 or dp6 superb choices
or
2. get an offset for your rig that will put the camera more in front of you

Do you have the Zacuto EVF on an arm attached to the rig? I assume you're running an HDMI cable from the GH2 HDMI out port to the EVF?
Yes mostly using an articulating arm. It uses HDMI.
The new Small HD DP4 looks like a good deal too but I think it's a bit too big to be an EVF? And too small to be a field monitor.
