SHOOTING IN BLACK & WHITE

I am going to shoot something in NYC and what that Black & white film look. What is the best way to achieve this? Should i shoot in color 24p and do black & white in final cut HD or should i shoot in black & white 24p on the dvxA? If so, how do you shoot black & white on the dvxA?
 
You really can't shoot B&W in camera on the DVX. Do it in post. You'll have more options that way, anyway.
 
Do u have any suggestions on color settings to make the final cut heavy contrast between black & white. should i just play with the Master pedestal?
 
Master Ped will probably be your best friend here. Play around with it and take some test shots into Final Cut and see what you like best. You'll probably want to drop it quite a bit.
