Shooting in 60, but imports at 30

When I try and shoot at 720 60 for slow motion shots it automatically imports at 30p. I have tried messing with import settings but with no success. Also the 30p does not appear to be slowed down at all. When I drag the 30p to a 24p timeline nothing changes.
 
May depend on your project settings and NLE. I use Edius as my NLE. I start a new project with settings of 29.97 over 59.94p. Then shoot everything with a camera setting of 60p. When bringing clips into the timeline they will play at normal speed. If I want slow mo for a particular clip, I pull the clip up in the bin and reset its properties to 29.97. Then place the clip on the timeline and it plays at half speed and looks really smooth.

Thanks Mark. I'm using FCP, so I think it might work a little differently. I'm also using log and transfer. It seems like regardless of what I set the import settings to, the computer imports the clips seemingly to automatically match the clip settings on the camera.
 
60i is 29.97. You are shooting 60 interlaced fields, which makes up 30 frames per second. 720p60 should import as 59.94, 1080i60 should import as 29.97.
