Shooting in 30 questions

I will be shooting at the Lime Rock vintage auto vestival next weekend and I'm thinking about using 30 so that I will have the auto features available for quick shooting. (dvx100).

Heres a few questions as I have never shot in 30.
Does it look better than 60I? I like the look of 24 so If it's close that would be sweet. Is it more forgiving while shooting hand held motion wise, compared to 24.

I am guessing that if I set up the camera for 30, everytime I shut down the camera and turn it back on to resume shooting It will default back to 60I correct?
If so, I will set up a scene file. Which scene file do most of you overwrite? I don't think the "spark" scene file will get much use from me. Just curious as to which one get the axe the most.

As usual, thanks for all your help!

Re: Shooting in 30 questions

yes its somewhat similar to the look of 24p..
yes its less stuttered when handheld..
yes its better image wise than 60I...
yes it will defualt back to 60i.. unless you simply save it by selecting save at the bottom of the menu after you change the settings, then its set for good untill you change it or reset i to default...

..honestly, does it really matter what 60i setting you overwrite.. they all stink :P..anyway i would just use f4 cause its close to the other progressive settings, and set it up with all the same other image settings as f5 and f6 that you use for 24p.. except make it 30p.. in fact thats what i have done.. i switch to it when im shooting for slow-mo for 24p. and have the same setup but in 60i for slowmo too.

Just the kind of info I was looking for. That F5 matching thing is brilliant my man.

Won't work. Autofocus and gain don't work on a DVX100 in any progressive mode, whether 24P, 24PA, or 30P. Those auto features only work in 60i.
