Shooting in 1080p.....

I'm still confused how to get full 1080p on the camera. All I see is a setting for 1080i. In the forward of Barry Green's book it says the camera shoots 720p, 1080i and 1080p. Barry's book mentions 1080i/p. is that the same as 1080p? Isnt 1080p the highest resolution available?

What is the highest quality video that the HVX can shoot and what settings do I need to shoot at that quality?

Just trying to understand.

Why is that the best format? Why not 1080i/60? Isn't 60 fps better? Won't that work better if you want to slow the film down for slow motion shots?

If you want film-looking footage, 1080i/24pA is the best, obviously.

Why not 1080i/60?
If you want the "live" or "video" look, 1080i/60 is much better for that.

Only if what you're shooting would benefit from the "live" look instead of the "video" look.

Won't that work better if you want to slow the film down for slow motion shots?
Interlaced would be fairly awful for that. Never use the HVX's 1080/60i for slowing down for slow-mo; instead, swap over to its 720/60p mode for that. You get true progressive footage, plus you get about two dozen frame rates instead of just 60p.
