FS5: Shooting DNG RAW 4k 24fp FS5. How much rec time nd what SSD's work best for the price

I'm shooting a short film on the FS5 and planning on shooting in RAW 24fps 4k on the Atomos Inferno. How much recording time on a 1TB drive will that give me? Can someone provide me the file size for 1 frame and I can do the math.

Also: SSD's are expensive! I'm looking into the angelbird 4k which is about $1,000 per TB! I know I need one fast enough to do what I need but is there any others that maybe you guys have tested that can do this for cheaper?

I downloaded some FS5 50p footage online and 1 frame is 13.4 MB.

So for 25p it should be 6.7 MB.

24p is a pinch less...if we rounded it to an even 6MB per frame, 24 frames = 144MB.

So that's 144MB per second, 8640MB per minute (or 8.64GB per minute).

So 60 minutes would be 518.4GB.

So it looks like more than 50 minutes for a 1TB SSD by this math? (if it's correct)

SSDs - https://www.atomos.com/drives (scroll down & choose Shogun Inferno)

I have used the very highly regarded SanDisk 480GB SSD for Blackmagic CDNG and Canon RAW and 24p was fine, but it's not approved (failed) and/or untested on that Atomos chart.

Regardless, it's common to use smaller drives and transfer footage throughout the day because if you only have 1TB then once you fill it up you'll have to take the time to offload it. But if you have maybe two 500GB or three/four 250GB you can offload while you continue to shoot. Not always possible, but usually it is. Of course if you have two 1TB drives that works too.

I just purchased two of the Angelbird AV PRO MK3 500GB Internal Solid State Drive, 2.5", SATA 6Gb/s - AVP500MK3 for $250 ea on amazon. They work with the shogun inferno 4k raw HQ gives me roughly one hour of shooting. One huge advantage of SSD is you can offload them really quickly, 500 gigs in about 15min with an old MacBook pro through thunderbolt to a 6tb HD. That is my location setup at this time. I will need more SSD's going forward.
