Shooting Black and White with DVX

I have an upcoming project where I would like to later convert all of the footage in post to Black and White. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions as to the type of setting I should have set on the DVX during actual production?
I want a contrasty image in which the subject can really stand out from the background and give the image a gritty sort of dirty look. Of course, this has alot to do where you shoot and your lighting situation, but I also want to get it right with the camera's settings. Any ideas? Any other advice you might have for making a black and white image and things to remember while filming please feel free to post it here. Thanks in advance!

Also, if someone has any websites or forums dedicated to black and white shooting or tips and tricks I would love that info as well!

shoot with the widest possible range and the most neutral setting
grade it in post
when converting to black and white dont colour correct the actual footage, rather use a solid frame in saturation transfer mode
as youve stated though, its all in teh lighting. The shade of your actors clothing versus the shades of the background needs to be very carefully thought about
