Shooting a snake from a radio controlled helicopter

That looks great. What sort of rig do you use for the RC Helo? What controls do you use for monitoring and focusing? Did you use any reflectors or the like for the closed in shots?

Thank you for the nice compliments.

The heli is a modified version of an industrial electric. Its not a hobby helicopter. It shoots a microwave video stream to the ground thats monitored by the camera operator who controls the robotic head that the af100 is mounted into.

All the lighting was natural sun light. Between the Zebras and the WFM, exposure is a dream come true coming from the DSLRs.

Can you see the zebras and WFM during flight, or control the iris, or does it just need to be fixed before takeoff and hope you don't run into any wildly varying lighting conditions?

Does the same person fly the heli and point the camera, or does it take a two-person crew (I'm guessing so)?

At this time we pre-expose the camera before take off. Its a two man operation. A pilot and a camera person.

Do you have any BTS footage of the Helicopter rig (preferably with the AF100)? I would really like to see it in action!

Great stuff... so stable! ...though I will admit I initially expected to see footage of a helicopter rig tracking a rattlesnake across the desert, and I was curious to see just how well that worked out!
