hello masters of DV and HD. I have a conundrum. I am shooting a feature in Black and white. We have a small budget and I am trying to convice the director that HD or HDV will be a better choice then film because it will allow us to do more things with the meger budget then spend it all on film and processing costs. Does any one know of any great examples of Black and white footage shot on HD or HDV or any related articles?

Thanks in Advance for your wisdom

I don't know any films of the top of my head shot in B&W that also where in HD, but it is so easy to do in post that it's hardly worth talking about.

I suppose I should point out that your chances of ever getting distribution are slim to none on a B&W film.

Even a movie like the "Good German" with George Clooney, Tobey Macguire, and Cate Blanchett sucked wind at the box office. OK, it was a terrible movie, but it being black and white sure didn't help.

why not shoot it in 35mm B&W and telecine it. I can get you short ends at 15 cents per foot. You can telecine it and end up with terrific looking B&W footage that you don't have to manipulate too much in post. Is the movie a feature of a short?

It's a feature. Of course i would love to shoot on 35mm but that is just not in out price range. that is why I am trying to get some information on shooting it digitally.

I understand that theoreticlly it would be really easy to do it post I just have not seen any examples of how it will look. I want to make sure it's going to look good.
Thanks for the advice but we are not looking for major distrubition the film has a very specific market and we are aware of that.
