Hi
I am new to the forums. And I have a quick question I would like all of you to share your opinions on. I am about to start work on a indie film and I have some money saved up. And like many of you i am in love with the imagery of the RED ONE CAMERA. I ve checked my budget and its clearly evident that I cannot afford one. However i estimated that if i were to rent it i would be able to shoot my feature with it.
Now the dillema. A friend of a friend showed me some stuff he shot with hvx200a and cinemek g35. And i was quiet impressed with what i saw. Buying a hvx200 and g35 is probably in the price range of renting out a red for the days i need it. Plus it would be cool to actually own it.
But part of me is thinking i am cheating myself out of the superior quality of the red one. Its a hard choice. I am interested to know what many of you would do in my situation. And before any of you mention it I hate these little dslr cameras that shoot 1080. I havent really been impressed by any of them (mark two, gh1), the upcoming canon d70 whatever it is)
Do you think the quality of the hvx200 plus cinemek g35 would hold up in film festivals? In competition with films being shot with the superior red one camera?
your advice would be greatly appreciated
Leo
