hey guys i'm shooting a short ( 1st one ever ) on my hv20 and is coming along i have it almost done, i have put it in the correct sequence from start to finish (running about 6:24 total) all it needs is some cgi with after effects to finish a few scenes, but i have a problem...

i'm having trouble with the sound side of things... i need some help of anyone who does sound or has an input of what i should do... now this is from 3:38 onwards i'm pretty happy with the sound before that point. any ideas on SFX to use/music where it should go ect... would be very much appriciated.

please help me out as i realy would like some help from all you guys with experiance.

thanks Marty.

yes i realise that the voices require dubbing, and thankyou for pointing that out :) that will be worked on i assure you, any toher points ??

Well, its a bit long and too dark for my taste. Not sure what happens since I got tired of watching by the time the dad jumped off the couch.

Its really too dark to say much about it, there are parts that are creepy about it which I guess is what you were after but it doesn't really maintain it throughout.

Just my 2 cents,

glenn

thanks for your input crypt :) i will take it all on board, for everyone else good/bad critisms is always welcome so keep it coming please.

I have commented on some of this a while back in another forum. The new stuff looks good!

I would definitely tighten up the edit though. Some parts are just too long.
If it doesn't push the story forward, you don't need it.

Some foley, and ADR will really help this as well.

It's looking good though! Just polish it some more.

Cheers,

Mike

what would you recommend cutting ? ie; what scenes.

The scene at the beginning on the couch. It is far too long and the shot never changes. Don't get me wrong, you have some pretty good shots and I know you shot a fair amount of this a while back.

Watch it back a few times and trim the fat. Any scene that tells the tale but lingers on needlessly can be cut down. I'm guilty of that myself.

Cheers,

Thanks for the help, i have had a look and trimed what i could.. from 6:24 to 5:50.. 34secs may not seem like much i feel the short is better without it :) please guys keep the advice coming. i also need a reason for throwing the doll ( wonce picked up) a close shot of the dolls face is shown , then it is thrown...[using the footage that is already shot [maybe something in AE??] i was thinking maybe the eyes should glow for a second.. but maybe you guys had a beter idea. Hopeing to hear from oyu guys soon.

regards Marty.
