Shooting 8k for 4k delivery

I just shot a simple video about the parts of a violin. I mainly used a macro lens. Because macro lenses are so tight, it's hard to do any moves when using them (otherwise you get a bunch of shaky footage). Rather than just living with these shots as static shots, I shot in 8k for 4k delivery so that I could add subtle moves without any resolution loss. Here are the results if you are interested...

Nice work, as always. Side note: we are still enjoying your grandmother's spaghetti sauce recipe on at least a monthly basis! It has become a part of our regular rotation.

I think this is a strong case for the benefits of shooting in 8K. The resolution is definitely there. I can see some noise in the darker areas but I doubt anyone but a video person would notice. Was this the R5?

Really surreal to see the Ken Burns effect on video footage. So much resolution. It is literally 16 HD images in one.

Cool to see. thanks for sharing

Worked really well  but that shouldn't be surprising, as it's literally the same thing as using 4k for an HD finished image. 4x the imaging area to play with.

It's very convenient flexibility to have (if you're finishing in 4k), but obviously it comes at the price of 4x the data rates - so whether it's worth the additional cost to a production, is going to be up to that production.

I'm shooting an Arabic period drama series over in the Middle East at the moment (with some pretty big stars in the Arabic world), and we're recording it in glorious 2k - and no one seems to mind.
