shooting 60i while in 24P or 24A: any point to it?

This stems from my other question topic from a few days back where I did this accidentally and the camera didn't react too well. I was worried something bad had happened and was assured thqat it was fine. I'm a nervous type so I was worried I broke something. However, it was pointed out that you can shoot this way. i was wondering what would be the result and/or why would you want to do this? I havne't tried it cuz it still makes me nervous. Basically owning a $3000+ cam makes me nervous because I'm used to a small cheapie camcorder or 35mm still photo cameras, nothing with so much interior menus and such.

Anyhow, thanks again. This forum is the moast polite forum I've ever seen. I hate online forums usually cuz they are full of arguementative arrogant types who talk alot of **** because they're bored/losers/etc, but this place is great. i've never seen anyone take an attitude in here and thatr's commendable 8)

I'm not sure what you mean by "shooting 60i while in 24p or 24[p]A." You can't do both at the same time. It's 60i or it's 24p.

You can flip between scene files while you're shooting, but it will continue recording in whatever mode it was in when you started recording -- until you stop.

OK, I went back and read that thread and I see where you're confused.

The Scene File and the frame rate are not the same thing. F5 and F6 come factory-set at 24pN and 24pA, respectively. You can CHANGE the frame rate to 60i in either SCENE FILE, but you're not "in 24p" anymore if you do so.
