Hey guys

Just recieved my hmc151... I cant figure how to shoot in 720/24p?!? I can see 25p, but not 24...

Now I am a total noob with this cam, and have only ever learnt to use 1 cam (the Z1) ever.

Im sure its very simple or Ive got the wrong end of the stick here, but im sure you guys can clear it up for me

Cheers!

I believe the 151 is PAL/ NTSC switchable... and the 152 is PAL and the 150 is NTSC.

So for you if you are shooting in PAL mode u dont have 24p...u have 25p (which is basically the same thing in regards to how it looks)

If you are shooting in NTSC mode you will have 24p. IF u are located in PAL land use PAL mode. 25p looks the same.

The HMC151 is the European model, and it's PAL/NTSC switchable, so you get the best of both worlds. Somewhere there should be an option to enable NTSC shooting, and that will enable you to shot 24p. Though, to be honest, 25p isn't really going to look that much different, and depending on where you are, might make your workflow easier.

yeh i realised about the pal ntsc thing from a quick read of the manual, guess I shouldve done that first!

Although, how much difference is there between 24 and 25? Is it the same look?

Cheers

Same look. Difference is for what you are outputting to.

Outputting for Pal then use 25P

Outputting to NTSC then use 24P or 30P.

Outputting for film out then 24P is preferred.

Have fun with the new cam. Wish all the models were NTSC/Pal switchable.

Yeah, if you're in PAL-land and not outputting to film, I wouldn't get too shook about it. You'd be hard pressed to see much of a difference. Plus, if you're outputting to DVD, I would think 25p to 50i is going to be easier than 24p to 50i.
