Shooting 24p A?

Sorry for the lazy question...
I can't remember why I shoot straight 24p and not 24p Advanced. Going overseas to shoot a couple projects. One will end up with a version in PAL. Any benefits from shooting advanced when projects are going straight to DVD? I will probably edit AXP 5.5 starting in June (on 4.6 now).

Thoughts?

Thanks,
FD

Basic explination: Shoot 24pn when editing at a framerate of 29.97fps. Shoot 24pa when editing at a framerate of 23.976.

There is an advantage to 24pa when going to DVD because it's 24 whole frames. 24pn will get you 24 frames, but occasionally one of those frames will fall of alternating fields.

Also, in Xpress Pro 4.6 you can only remove pulldown from 24pa footage. With 5.5 you'll be able to remove pulldown for either 24pa or 24pn.

Hope that helps.

Thanks krestofre. Does A mean you will get a sharper DVD? Better motion and slo motion? Better PAL transfer?

Thanks for the time.

If you don't remove the normal pulldown from 24pn, then 24pa will definitely give you a benefit on DVD. Namely it will be progressive footage. If you remove the pulldown, then it becomes almost the same thing.

At least that's my understanding. I don't work with 24pn often.
