shoot35 Ltd Upcoming 4x4 Matte box Preview

Hi,

Yes, it features vertical adjustment & the filter stages rotate independently.

Wayne,

Forgive me if this is actually obvious and I've missed it completely. You said a long time ago that the mattebox has a height adjustment, but for the life of me, I can't tell from the pictures how this could be done. Was the design eventually changed to not allow height adjustments or am I just missing it completely?

Hi,

The height adjustment happens at the point where the swingaway attaches to the CINEbox. There is +/- 11mm of adjustment in each direction (22mm total travel).

You can see the 3x stainless button head screws attaches through the 'slot' at the hinge of the swing away:

it is tuesday at US... checked on the site..it is already sold out. hopefully get it at the next batch.

Congratulations Wayne - But now that you're shipping, no more excuses - when will we see that 4x5.5" vertical filter holder and a reversing gear for the follow focus for us old time Nikon guys? I might actually be needing to buy this stuff soon for an F3 , but I need those options - I can't be alone can I?

By the way do you know how wide a prime lens can be used with the mattebox?

Hi Lenny,

In all honesty I can't give a time scale right now. With the release of the CINEbox things are extra busy here with no time for any development work. Things will calm in about a month but right now its full steam ahead with product assembly and fulfilling orders. The reverse gear for the CINEfocus r2 is basically designed, but the machine shop is completely tied up with producing CINEbox parts amongst other things.

We have used the CINEbox wit a 20mm lens on the 5D (full frame) with the rubber bellows fully compressed. This may not work with every 20mm lens depending on the lens housing.

Has anyone tried it with a Tokina 11-16 on 7D or T2i? I may have asked this before but the reverse gear will retrofit to an existing follow focus won't it.

I have a duclos 11-16mm, it works with a follow focus just fine. I will test it with the mattebox later tonight.

Hi,

Yes it went up @10:00am GMT as planned. Demand was higher this time round than our first batch. We had to out of stock the batch in 7 minutes.

I guess Im lucky to have stayed up till 2am Los Angeles time to get one! :) Any chance I can have it by Feb 28th since i have a big shoot that week. It would be awesome if that could happen. Thanks
Michael

Thanks for your order.

Although we will push to get all orders out asap, it is not likely it will arrive by the 28th, but it should arrive that week.

Any news on the restock?
By the way how is the Lens Attachment Ring work??
Will the Zacuto Donut work with this matte box?

Hi,

Most likely the 1st week of April, but we will annouce the date on the news page of the website about a week before.

I do not beleive that the Zacuto donut is compatible.

Will the shoot35 side flags fit on a chrosziel mattebox? I'm looking for an affordable alternative and these look like they might work.

Hi Wayne,

Quick questions:

1) What is the approximate weight of the whole "DSLRmount & CINEfocus r2 Package"?

2) Approx weight of the "CINEbox 4x4" Matte Box"?

3) With a Canon FD lens (with approximately a 180 degree rotation, and diameter of 60mm) How much rotation would you get out of the cinefocus with a FLEXIgear Lens Gear.

Thanks in advance, Jon
