shoot35 Ltd Upcoming 4x4 Matte box Preview

We have had all of the parts arrive for the CINEbox. However we are not happy with some of them, so we are getting them remachined. This will unfortuantely delay the release of the CINEbox but we would not release a product unless we are 100% confident that everything is correct. The delay will push the release to the the end of January, earliest. We are disappointed with the delay but we want the CINEbox to be the best it can be.

I totally understand and respect you Wayne, the superb Shoot35 quality always comes in the first hand =)

Thanks for the update Wayne.
I am wondering what kind of material the matt box made out of?
Is it rubber plastic or plastic plastic ??
Because I am still on the stage of shooting small indie and student shoots. AC does drop stuffs on the ground when the production try to rush.
I am sure Shoot35 product is durable. But I can't tell what they made out of from the sample pictures on the forum.
Thanks

Hi,

The main shade is injection moulded ABS plastic, the bellows is rubber and all else is aluminium construction.

Wayne, Its a bit off topic, but do you have plans to add a reverse gear to your follow focus for Nikon lenses?

Hi Lenny,

Yes, for the CINEfocus R2. It is pretty much designed, but we need to run other projects through the machine shop first, so it may be a while...

Wayne, Will the gear be an easy add-on to the existing system or is it more complicated ?

BTW - for what its worth I compared an SGBlade (RR2) on an Ex-1 with an AF100 the other day, and the Blade/Ex-1 combo killed the AF100 in resolution as well as Bokeh and highlight rendition.

Tim, Nice review, and i agree about the quality /price combo that Wayne brings to everything. Do you know what lenses might begin to vignette with the 4x4?

Timur,

How would you compare Shoot35's solution to Chrosziel in terms of build quality? Shoot35 seems to have a leg up in design.

The chroziel is "better", but it had better be for tripple the price tag. The shoot 35 is a very good value. All the functionality, at an unbeatable price.
