FS7: shoot me

My first shoot with the FS7, I directed shot edited and graded the video then had more 'stuff' added in post!

Two afternoons in the woods, and one live gig (FS7, gopro, FS100) minimal crew.

So many effects, could have been shot on any camera
Video worked very well with the music though.

I do a fair amount of music videos, and they seem to always want more effects etc. I tend to (half) jokingly reply with "what is this? Instagram?"

Im hoping to get permission to put out a 'clean' version (it is still quite mental in my grade.. and yes a 10bit camera does help a lot!)

Yep.. actually it is Instagram.

Or rather it is for the Instagram generation... so maybe the heavy treatment is right.

'Clean' version.. (not to share!).. I guess up 'oldies' prefer it.. This is roughly what I delivered from Resolve. The, edit, colours palette was created in Resolve, including chopping some clips and adding different grades mid clip, time ramps and multi layer opacity footage mixes and the bad border. Any light leaks were in camera as elements are 'whacked'

interesting to see.

It's many times frustrating when you try to create a nice image and the band/client just wants you to ruin it with effects

Another thing I struggle with when it comes to music videos is camera movements. I hate bad camera movements but they seem all so used to people whipping DSLRs around so they are expecting that...
