Shoot 4:3 for Depositions?

I shoot depositions which must be 4:3 Standard Def with time stamp. I record straight to DVD-Rs. Is there any way to achieve this with the HMC150?

Why would you want to? This seems like a strong case for using the right tools for the job. Any standard def cam with video out to a dvd recorder.

What about the composite out? Don't know about the time stamp. I agree with dop16mm.....Kinda seems like an atomic bomb to kill a fly however....

YES you can send out 4x3 out the composite port. Just go into menu and I believe it's call side mask or something like that. I do this 6 times a year on my webcast. I haven't used timestamp but I know the 4x3 will work.. and you can turn off the OSD, just not sure about timestamp.

I used it yesterday for a depo: side crop from composite out to DVD recorder works fine.

FWIW, I use an HMC for depos a lot. 2 hours of footage at HA mode takes up 10 GB less space of storage than SD.

Thank you Mark Whalen. How about the time/date stamp?

In my state the d/t stamp is required by rule.

When using sidecrop on the HMC, it puts the last digit of the seconds fairly close to the RH margin of the frame when viewed on a typical NTSC TV. That said, most of my stuff is shown via projector as is or used in a video/transcript synchronized display where it's not an issue. Timestamp is found in the Record Setup section of the manual.

Mark, how's the image quality for the composite out on the HMC150? Is is as good as a DVX100? Or close enough that you can't tell the difference when recording to a DVD-Video recorder?
