Shoot 35 and custom charges.

Has anyone ordered a Shoot35 kit or hardware recently, and, if so, were you charged any import or custom duties when the stuff arrived from England? They gave me the shipping charges, but said I was responsible for any import charges into the US. I like their stuff, but don't want an unpleasant surprise when it arrives.

Usually the problem is when importing from outside EU to EU countries: we have VAT (value added tax) that is from 20 to 23%, depending wich EU country. We have to add VAT (including on shipping costs) and about 5% of custom fees. So if I buy something from USA I have to add about at least 26%. In USA there is no VAT but, in some state, there could be an importing tax (surely smaller than VAT). You should ask only if there are other taxes importing from Europe or you should be able to find that info on the web. You could ask to FedEx o UPS or take a look on their websites. Furthermore, Wayne (the owner of SGPro) is a very kind man and always answer to all email he receives within 24 hr. You can contact him at info@sgpro.co.uk . He has made a lot of shipment in USA, perhaps he can help you.

Anyway I think that if there's something to pay it is a little amount and not our 25% and more

:-)

I ordered the matte box and follow focus kit from there and the import tax was less than $100. I can't remember the exact number and I didn't know what it would be until UPS showed up at my door.
