Shogun vs Odyssey 7q with MITCH GROSS

Not that it really needs any more help but +1 for the O7Q+ and A7s, it works wonderfully and really unlocks what the camera can do. Having used the O7Q and now the plus, i've never really had any issues with it plus the firmware is more robust than the others just because it's been out in the field for much longer.

Now if only we can get exposure compensation for display on the O7Q+... (i.e. display at X stops under so we're recording X stops over for noise purposes)

cheers
Paul

I'm almost sold...really.
One question though...why put mini HDMI ports?
Good question, one I asked the engineers as well. I'm told that in our testing, the mini HDMI connector held in place the best, even better than the full sized HDMI connector.

We will soon be offering our own custom cables for use with the Odyssey7Q+.

An exposure compensation function can be easily created using custom LUTs, which will be available soon.

With how helpful (and active on these message boards) Mitch Gross is, I wouldn't even look at another product except the Odyssey 7Q+ (as long as the 7Q+ met my needs). Superb functionality, superb build quality, superb product updates and superb help by Mitch himself.

It's just superb!

+1

Got my Odyssey 7q+ recently - I love it with the Sony A7S. This is my 2nd Odyssey. I was going to go Shogun but I read a lot of reviews about build quality also not quality control of Hard drives when used with Pro Res - also that the Odyssey 7Q+ can do so much more with so many more cameras. I own 3 samurais and one blade and a PIX 240 - and now I'm selling a samurai. Very happy with the odyssey 7q - it has gone thru a good amount of firmware builds and I feel really confident recording to it. It feels robust.
