Hi everyone.

Here is the teaser of a short movie: Sheol
"The Descent" style. Testing the GH1 in extreme low light situation. Lighted only with 3-4 Headlamp.

code: sheolteaser

Panasonic Lumix GH1. 720p50 PAL
Smooth mode, Contrast & saturation -1, NR -2
outdoor: ISO 100-200 Panasonic 14-140 F4-5,6
Indoor: ISO 640-800, Panasonic 20mm F1.7, Minolta MD 50mm F1.7

Just few adjustments in post (levels, tint, saturation)

I await your opinions and comments

Absolutely stunning! Congratulations. I had no idea you could get images that clean (no noise) in such a dark environment. Thanks for posting this!

Promising. Looks great. Great location and a great set of actors there. Make sure to post the full short film when it's ready, would love to see how it turns out.

These kind of low light shots are handled very well by cameras. It's when you get dimly lit surfaces that noise is visible and you need to jump the ISO up to get the required brightness.

With the bright torches like that and an F1.7 lens you can drop the ISO to a more reasonable level and 99% of the frame is either well lit with the torch or in complete inky black.

Nice contrast between the calm of the outdoors and the chaos in the cave :)

You can really make something of this idea, it's fantastic. You have the chance to really use those lights creatively in building up the tension.

Hi everyone,
thank you all for your comments.

@Revsa: I don't understand what you mean ?? FPN ???

I'll post the film when it's finished, probably in 2010.

I'll soon post 2 music video shot with GH1:

code: testgh1

R-ik?

Second vid gives an "invalid password"

I tried it 3 times...very carefully. :)
In case I was mis-typing.

Tried it as follows... testgh1

That works. :)

Oh, and....DANG. That's some sweet shots there.

sincerely,

ian

In the password -- GH1 should be gh1 -- testgh1

EDIT: As already noted.

Great looking stuff! Looking forward to final version.

What I mean by FPN is the streaky fixed pattern noise that messed up your image when you're shooting underexposed footage mostly.
