I need to buy a wireless system for use with DVX and HPX500.
It will be used for ENG direct to camera (no mixer).
I can buy a sennhiser g2 system new or a lectrosonics 190 used,
what would you go for?
THK.

FYI - the G2 hjas been superceded by the G3. Double check the G2 to make sure it's authentic - there are forgeries out there - and also check that it's legal to operate if you're in the States. The 700mHz band is no longer legal for wireless mics, since the switchover to digital TV, but there are still some 700 mHz units being offered for sale on eBay and such.

The 190's aren't frequency agile so in this day and age it's not going to do you much good.

To add to that, the new G3 systems add diversity. While Lectros may be built like tanks, I don't think the advantages of the 190 system outweigh the shortcoming of not being frequency agile.

They had frequency agility in the 200 and 400 series before the SR series. The OP specifically said his choice was a G2 or a Lectro 190.

I'm shooting a feature right now using a couple of G2's, with Countryman B3 lavs. They are good enough that I sometimes use them even when a boom is possible.
One of them has occasional momentary static, not sure what that's all about. The other is flawless. I replace batteries when the first bar disappears and NEVER use rechargeables - they are lower voltage than conventional batteries.
