Sharpness Setting/Change For Anamorphic Adaptor?

Hi,
I was just wondering what people's experiences were in changing the menu settings when using the AGLA7200 Anamorphic?
I normally have used sharpness 0, Vertical Detail Thick or Med in 4:3 mode. Do people find setting the Vertical Detail to Thin (or at least Med) makes up for the loss in sharpness using the adaptor? I assume that would work better than upping the sharpness into the + range.
Thanks and appreciate any input. Thus far I've only really used the camera in 4:3 mode.
Cheers,

Brian

I don't see any loss of sharpness when using the adapter (provided that you're obeying the rules about minimum f-stop at certain distances, etc). I always use it in thin mode, detail turned down, and it looks just fantastic.

Barry,
When you say detail turned down do you mean like -1, or -2?
I know this has been discussed in the past but I'm not sure if you should use the same detail setting for both the DVX100 and 100a while using the anamorphic?

When shooting with the anamorphic, I use the DVFILM recommended setting for film transfer, which is -3. Depending on the shot or the targeted viewing mode, I might crank that back up to -1 or so.

As for what detail setting to use, play with it using a high-res monitor, decide what you like, and use that. These settings are here for you to use, to get the look you want.

The problem with freedom is learning how to use it . . .

That's so true on MANY levels . . .
