Sharpen -7

What does a Sharpening level of -7 mean? Does this mean, being the lowest setting, that there is no sharpening happening at all? Or, is zero sharpening the place where no sharpening is happening and -7 is actually adding blur? And why use the negative number?

Please help me with this.

-7 means that a minimal amount of sharpening is being applied. It may actually mean that there's no enhancement at all (i.e., "detail off") but I'm not sure on that one; without having a true way to turn the detail signal off it's not easy to know if it's truly off, or just minimal.

"0" is most definitely not "off"; it's a midpoint. There's noticeable edge enhancement added at 0; maximum at +7, and minimum (or none) at -7.
