Sharing bad experience...

I just want to share my bad experience I had this evening.

Last summer I shot some touristic place for somebody for use on the internet.
So I though lets use F6 mode, en lets use the Zebra function, so that I get everything right lighted.
Normally I shoot in squeezed mode, but I choose to shoot in 4:3 mode, because that's what they use.

When I reviewed the shots at home, I saw that in the most wideshots the softy of the shotgun Mic was in the picture! Bad! I never had this before because normally I shoot in Squeezed mode.

So I show the man the shots I have made, he said all of my shots are too dark and the pans are not sharp, I said, yeah well, some shots are too dark, but the most are good, you can see the skies are not wasted. Yeah, but the building and the people are too dark! You have shot in summer, but doesn't look like summer he said.

He showed me his own material, which was all shot in normal mode on different camera. I said to him that most shots was too bright, lots of lost information.
He just disagreed with me, and said that my material was too bad for use. He didn't want to auto contrast in post.

Finally I asked him if he liked the camerawork, that was good for him, but the picture was not usefull.

So I returned home with a strange feeling, I though I had to adapt to his work and shoot in normal mode, interlaced, like the most video guys do.
On the other side, I don't like that way too bright video image, I have bought the DVX-100AE for the film options. I never use the interlaced mode.

So that was my baddest experience in a long time!

Blow up the image 5-10% to remove the mic. Do the levels adjustment to "brighten" it up to this idiot's idea of what is good. Underexposed always leaves many more options then overexposed. It sounds salvagable. Best of luck.

Well, I have blow them up already, but the image quality gets bad.

When at home I do auto-contrast in Avid Xpress Pro, he makes the blacks lighter, normally I always do auto-contrast in post.

Maybe I can post some stills, but have never done that before, so I don't know the procedure jet.
But I see in the posting rules that I may NOT post attachments.
