The great thing about this plate is that it will take your Sony F3, EX1, EX3 or Panasonic AF100/101 from your shoulder onto your basic VCT-14 type tripod plates, giving you much greater flexibility, and a wider range back and forth to balance your set up on the tripod. You can mount lightweight rods on the front and back, plus it has built in Arri standard size rosettes on the sides. It is a great baseplate, the best I could find, especially for the money.

I am selling only the Baseplate/shoulder pad combo, I never had the "double quick handles". I used my Mantis arms and handles with it instead.

The unit is very clean, shows almost no signs of wear. Will post some photos tomorrow if possible.

$895 plus shipping.

I am in Los Angeles.

Are the front and rear rods adjustible at all, or do they just fit into sockets in the plate? Do they insert far enough to safely support long rods without your bottom rod set?

no adjustments on the rods, and no adjustment of the camera position (except there are many holes, so you can put the camera a little more forward or a little more back on the plate). but i found the height on the F3 to be perfect for the mattebox to fit directly on the lenses, and the adjustment for optimum balance is done with the combination of the adjustment on the tripod and where you put the tripod plate in regards to the vct-14 plate. that is where i find a lot more range than just putting the little sachtler tripod plate on the bottom of the camera.

by the way, I am not selling it anymore. the one i was replacing it with, the element technica one, had a little play on the vtc14, and they are going to do some adjustments to that. until they can get that perfect, i will hold on to this one.

before you ask, e.t. is in the process of making a vct-14 compatible bottom to their F3 baseplate. when they do get that working perfect it will be great. i like their baseplate a little better than the one from shape for two reasons, it is lighter (made from aluminum or something like that) and the shoulder pad can stay on the baseplate when you put it on the tripod (the shape shoulder pad is velcro attached to the baseplate but you have to take it off to mount the camera on the vtc-14). on the other hand, the shape is about 1/2 the price of the e.t. complete kit.
