"Shake Ya Fatty" hip hop video

great editing on what is medicore footage. The first singer in the camo pants doesn't look like a good dancer, she seems fumbly. They should have lit more while still having club type lighting. Other than that it was ok doesnt really stand out to me just like most of the videos I watch on bet these days.

Did you also convert this footage or just cut it? Since it's an NTSC fx1 it's not 50i or cf25 but it didn't look 60i.

Tell me what your editing process was like.

I thought the editing was very very good. I also liked the colour timeing and exposure of the shots.

I thought this video was great. Obviously it's not the most innovative concept but neither are most of the songs that are out and if that's what the client wants then you achieved that goal. Also the fact that it looks like most of the videos on BET is a good thing ( Unless you meant BET uncut ).

What was incredible about this video is how LITTLE footage I had to work with. I was given free reign when I received the footage and basically came up with ideas on the fly. As you have noticed, there was no real concept for this and "YES" I agree the lighting was not the best for a lot of shots, but believe me...if you know what the guy got paid to do this...he went above and beyond the call of duty. That goes for me as well for the editing!!!

thanks for the great comments.

BTW- If I shot it, it would have been with the DVX, but to each their own! I'm not a big fan of the Sony.

Yup, "wow"....

Mind sharing your work flow? Editing platform, if you converted the footage to a diffrent codec or anything before you started working with....

Also, I've heard countless people talking about the picture falling a part when there is a lot going on in the frame... did you notice any of this when you got the raw? Is the interlacing an eye-ache when you watch this full screen?

Thanks, and keep up the good work:thumbsup:

I'm a Final Cut Pro guy.
For this project I used a lot of AE and Photoshop.

This was my first attempt at working with HDV, so it was a trial and error project for me. My biggest issue was determining if I was correctly editing the footage shot at 1080/60i format. About 1/3 of the way thru, I discovered I was editing in a 24P 720x480 sequence, this caused the sync to be off, but I found out that it does nothing to the quality of video, as long as it's being played back in a SD format.

Not sure what you mean by the "picture falling out". However, the video is very fast paced and I know the compression of the video will leave segments missing or crushed together...the final version will be better quality. I will need to go back thru and make sure all clips have de-interlacing...this is bothersome.

thanks,

epp,
When was this shot in Atlanta and if you have anyone doing any project and they need some help, do let me know. I live there.
