Shades on top edge of my hvx.. IDEAS???

Hey guys, I'm noticing some weird issues with my previous owned HVX200.
The former owner didn't find this to happen but on the top edge of almost all footage I find a slight black shade poking in the frame when I import it on my mac.. sometimes really hard to notice at all, depending on the background.

Weird as well is that the shade becomes even more unnoticeable (almost vanishes) when importing on to an older pc with premiere on it...HUH?!?!
(premiere )Though its quite good to see during capturing, it disappears when playing back in the timeline.

I might need to mention that the camera had some light damage to it (thread for matte box was broken, according to the previous owner because of a heavy wide angle lens). I tested the device before buying but I didn't notice the shades from the start.

When I hook it up via component video to a bigger HD Monitor you can find small grey bars appearing at the top of the frame, when tilling the camera.
This happens both in DV-Standard NTSC and HD 720p.

Everything else described I have found in DV mode only, since I havent got any p2 cards yet!

Here's a link to a 3s sample video, shades showing up at 2.08 s! You might need to playback in fcp or some other program than quicktime:

In this rare case the shade really runs into the frame at the mentioned time.

Alright folks, hope one of u has a clue and has answer, I'm looking forward to it!
Cheers

Hey just a thought, maybe someone can pick up on that. I figured out that the reason why its not visible in premiere is, that the image is scaled up automatically when dragged into the timeline fcp doesnt do that.. a Technician mentioned something which is called overscan (used in tvs), does this have to do sth. with the safety zone feature used in the hvx?? He also mumbled something about that some frame lines are used to transfer other information besides the actual image...

Could it be that these errors I was talking about are actually no errors and not worth worrying about since they're probably totally common things to happen in the 'not' safetyzone????

appreciate any input!
Cheers

To me it sounds like you solved the mystery yourself. It goes away in Premiere because of a blown up image, and whatever "light damage" means is what I suspect your culprit to be. Doesn't sound like it would come from any camera and editing settings. I would be whining for my money back... I wouldn't tell someone the camera has "light damage" if I broke the mattebox. I would tell them it has a broken mattebox, which can be replaced for fifty bucks.

id love to help. but im not going to download a huge ass file. cant you post a screen grab?

Hey, thanks for your replies! Giving the camera back unfortunately is no option for me. In the end its actually not that big of a deal for my usage I like to crop the image anyways, but in case of selling it one day it might come in handy. Further on I just wanna know what going on =]
@wgzn: Really appreciate your offer =] Here is the link to a screenshot I took: sendspace.com/file/39d4bi

Thanks to you both again, I'm pretty sure that what I posted secondly in this thread wasn't right since on modern tv's overscan is no issue anymore.

Cheers Tobi
