SGPRO Rev2(3) or Brevis?

I have a SGPro too and it's really sharp edge to edge and the bokeh is really great. I don't regret my choice until now.

I bang the drum for good reason. ITs a performer. Im not gonna say whether or not its sharper than anyhting, but my eyes dont lie. I never have been disappointed with its performance. And im a picky guy.

Bertholt, these are the top three variables at play that can contribute to soft footage with the Brevis, and pretty much any adapter out there:

1. Video camera lens soft at full open aperture (most like f4 or so)
1. Back focus inaccuracy (must be set dead accurate, particularly with HD).
2. 35mm lens aperture wide open (not an issue with all lenses)
3. Oscillation tuning (Brevis specific) not done properly.

This clip was done with the consumer HV20 using on-camera LCD for focusing and nothing in post other then pulldown removal, and flip. The standard CF1 was used. I was attempting to maximimize sharpness by using a polarizer, ND filter, and setting both 50mm lens and HV20 aperture for max sharpness. There are plenty of other great clips here.

We've just integrated tool-less micro-collimation into our new PL/OCT19 lens mounts, and will be doing the same with the SLR mounts next. Most users are finding the Brevis extremely easy to set up, and we're working constantly to improve.

Dennis thanks for the reply, can you give a date, or timetable when this tool-less micro-collimation will be integreated into the slr mounts?

I think the 35mm thing is really a hot thema for many people of the community. But there is only this one test made by Philipp Bloom, and the adaptors got better during the time.
Because in future there will be a lot of people who will work with hydra on the HVX, I think most adaptorsharpness as possible is really an important thing.

I`m in contact wiht a guy from a local filmschool, but I`m allways better and faster informed than he, because of this cool dvxforum - really like it!

We'll have that feature fully integrated for SLR lenses in about 4 weeks. For PL and OCT19, it's already done.

I am so impressed by the SGPRO that I invested today in a brand new ZEISS F1.4 50mm lens, Nikon Mount so that I can go even shallower and faster!! Theo, thanks for the advice !!!

Enjoy your new lense!!

Finally decided to purchase the sgpro! Thanks Smettli,Tim and Tom for answering my questions.
The footage on the sgpro site helped a lot to decide - 3 days ago I watched kathrina from Tim - after this there was no other way for me than the sgpro!!

Chris, we've made six of the new PL mounts (with micro-collimation adjust). Two are being tested right now for a two-Brevis shoot in Utah, and four are off to two different anodizers for final finish. We'll have full integration of the new mounts in about 2-3 weeks. They're designed (CAD + 3D modeled) and manufactured 100% in-house so we have control over all variables.

We're doing everything now using 3D modelling which has dropped manufacturing lead times drastically. Most of our physical prototyping has been eliminated. It also ensures that all of the interchangeable parts are backwards/forwards compatible.
